Can a doctor work in a researching institute parallel to all his work?

I am planning in studying masters and then maybe medicine. Can I work as a doctor and a researcher?|||Sure, lots of doctors do. Most of them work at teaching hospitals, where they are expected to do research and take care of patients along with medical students.
