How can you see a doctor after a car accident that was Not Your Fault if you have no money to pay up front?

My good friend was recently involved in a hit and run while driving her mom's car and never went to the emergency room, but is now in pain and really needs to see a doctor. Her mom was insured with Geico, and they are asking for any amounts she spent on medical treatment because of the injury, but she has no medical insurance and cannot afford to see a doctor and pay for it up front. I am assuming that Geico is asking for her medical expenses due to the accident because they plan to reimburse her for some or all of them. How can she get medical treatment without any money to cover it up front though? She does not need to go to the emergency room, just to see a doctor to get checked out because she is really in pain that will not go away.|||Insurance will REIMBURSE you for money you spend on necessary medical expenses. It isn't the insurance company's fault that your good friend doesn't have medical insurance, but in reality it's not a good idea to use your medical for that type of thing even if you have it. Just tell them you are being seen because of a non-fault auto accident. Some doctors will work with you and will wait to be paid.|||File a claim with her mothers insurance company and ask them to pay for treatment, she needs to tell the doctor up front that she is filing a claim and for them to submit the bill to the carrier.

Some states require PIP(personal insurance protection) on each policy starting at $10,000 and up per person, this should cover her medical if she just makes a claim.

Good Luck,|||At the time of the accident when the Police are called in is usually the time to let them know that you need medical attention. The Police would call an ambulance and possibly escort the ambulance over to the hospital.

Her mom's car insurance should provide for medical benefits for this purpose as third party. That is the reason they are asking for bills. She should speak with a Geico rep and they will explain in details what her insurance covers, and whether it's a reimburseable expense.|||Go to the emergency room of your county hospital. They have to treat you regardless of your insurance situation.

Long term treatment will have to be paid for in advance.

Lesson learned, your friend should have taken that ride in the ambulance to the hospital at the time of the wreck. Even with insurance, after the fact it will be her burden of proof to claim the accident was the cause of her injury.|||hi...
