What does a doctor do when you check in for being constipated?

If you're constipated and go to see a doctor about it, what kind of procedures will the doctor do to check you out? Do they have to stick anything up your rectum?|||No rectal inspection is usually needed. They will ask about diet to see if diet is the cause. But before you go try laxatives. First try the fiber laxatives--they're gentle but slow. The ones that dissolve in water are good. For a real blast job, take magnesium citrate, a liquid usually on the bottom shelf of the laxative section. It's very powerful, so be prepared to spend some time in the bathroom--take a phone and a book to read. Take two bottles (they're small) about 15 minutes apart, and you had better be prepared in advance--they'll work fast. And ask the pharmacist if you have the right stuff. A Fleet enema is a last resort.|||depends on your age

if you are young and otherwise ok a good history to include all meds both prescription and otc

your diet over the past week and everything you ate

your fluid intake

any pain? where?

any swelling and where?

any bleeding upon your last BM?

was your last BM black in color? or sticky?

do you exercise or are you sedate?

if you are a senior the history and exam are a bit different as well as anyone having had recent surgeries

sticking anything up your rectum isn't the norm

go to the doctor you have nothing to fear|||No,

Generally they will take your word for it and give you a prescription for a laxative (usually they will have you take something over the counter, but not Ex-Lax..)

If the problem does not go away, they will then perform some tests to make sure you don't have a clogged bowel, which can kill you.

If you are going to the doctor for constipation, don't worry..you will be fine.|||The doctor's gonna ask you how long you've been constipated, when it started, how regular you usually are, and what you've been eating. Depending on these answers, he/she will probably give you a medicine to help you have a bowel movement. IF it's been too long since you've had a BM or if the medicine does not work, they may do a surgery to remove it and then tell you how to prevent this in the future. Have you tried a round of stool softener and laxatives? Or an enema?|||Go and get some Milk Of Magnesia - Avoid the doctor for constipation. It's not really necessary. Drown your self in water. Or.. "Drown the enemy". This always works. Just continue to down water 8 - 10 ounces try about two glasses in 10 minutes, and repeat ever 30 - 45 untill you go. It should work eventually.|||if ur a baby or still a little infant/toddler then yes they will check you

but if your big already then no they jus give yu a prescription.

but it aint necessary to go to the doctor/

my babybrother was constipated for a little while.

but drinkin alot of apple juive is good.

or you can go to a drug store like walgreens and go

ask for some pills that help you get "loose"

lol..

and then u just put em in ur tush..lol.

im fo real.

i know this.|||There's an easier and much cheaper way than seeing a doctor. If there's a health food store by you, ask them if they carry "CALM". It's magnesium, I think. Flushes you right out and it's good for you, too.|||if you feel defecating at the moment maybe he'll insert a suppositorry at your rectum..

but only to check up..

he'll just listen to your bowel sounds (lower right of stomach) or check your hydration or something..|||no they will just prescribe some medicine for you,

they wont do anything to ur exit hole, because there is no point. they dont need to see that the poo is stuck. lol|||They will just ask you what stuffs you ate, how long it has been going on and prescribe you medications or laxatives. Some medications are oral and some are rectal.|||Yep. They'll put in a thermometer and a funnel for pushing some meds inside, then show you to the nearest loo.|||I got a thumb up my bum when I went to the doctor for constipation. She just told me to uummm try an enema|||I dont think so. They just did an xray I think. Which I thought was odd because I thought you could only see bone.|||Sometimes they do.|||Nothing like that at least we know dont worry go ahead and visit a doctor.|||no, they give you prescription laxatives I'm sure.|||stick his or her finger up your butt hole and makes sure there are no lumps trust me i know :(|||some time they do , if you haven't use the bathroom in awhile than
