How much money does a successful medical doctor make in Egypt?

I live in the US and it seems that every Egyptian I meet is obsessed with doctors (or engineers). Why does everyone in Egypt have to be either a doctor or engineer? How much money does a successful doctor (or engineer) make in a year?





I'm Egyptian myself and I don't understand why doctors especially are put on such a high pedestal by Egyptians.|||Not necessarily wok in Egypt, lots of doctors including my parents don't mind traveling to neighboring countries especially Ksa ( nearest and looks way like home ) and make up even better money, Gynecologists earn 20 - 30 k monthly,, Cardiologists and neurologists can earn 50k a month.|||the income in Egypt is different than the USA, and the public perception for a proffession also is different.





As a figure or ceiling that important is to stasify your family needs and live in high standard and this is not related to a specific profession.





you can find a doctor with very low income and another with a high income; the issue could not be classified according to profession and ceiling to differentiate between sucess and failure.|||Doctors and engineers don't make that much in Egypt. I work in a construction company and the starting salary for engineers is quite low compared to that of sales people, marketeers, HR, etc. Only when an engineer becomes a project manager do they make good money, and that usually takes them 15 years.





As for doctors, they make very little money as doctors, especially if they work in the universities or hospitals. I know because my husband comes from a family of doctors. Some doctors of course have their private clinics and are very well known - but that is not the norm.





Of course there are loads of exceptions to the rule, especially in a country with over 80 million people.





The obsession with doctors and engineers is linked to prestige. Egyptians find pride when their son or daughter is called Doctor or "Bashmohandes/Bashmohandesa" which translates to "engineer".|||well my friend who is cosmetic surgeon ,, his clink makes between 2000$ -3000$ ,,,believe it or not ,,,(he is very famous and sometimes a day he makes even 4000$-check how much hair implant for a male-work for a day 6-8 h ,, and you will know how much could a good doctor does /day)-In Europe they make the double or even more,,,, the nice thing about a doctor and an engineer in Egypt ,,, with some addition little studies he can work wherever, in any country ,, not like a lawyer as an example..



BTW,,, I live in Europe and Both are considered high class as well in all the countries,,,,How do you see doctors in The USA,,, I lived 4 years there and I know,,,,

if u want figures,,some i know just had a mastectomy for 15000le that is the doctors fees only excluding hospital stay etc,


the usual successful doc fee for a clinic visit ranges from 100 to 150 le


but some successful docs take 300le and if immediate visit 500le !!!! (the old ones))





but the whole point is out of the thousands of graduates only 10 are successful !!!!|||Oh yes..they are obsessed with them! My father is Egyptian and he is forcing me to become a doctor. They believe doctors have 'the life'. The money, luxury to do what they want, power.





I'm not sure how much they make, it's not as much as in the U.S but I've been to Egypt and they all live in the very rich, cleaner parts of the city. So they are considered to be the high class.|||Doctors are one of the most highest rates all over the world specially in the USA and Canada the minimum for just a basic family doctor in Canada and the USA is $150 for 15 minutes
